Legal Moonshine & Muscadine Wine at S.C. State Museum Tasting Nov. 5
“Everything old is new again.” So goes a famous saying, and it could certainly apply to a couple of the latest darlings of the adult beverage world: legal “moonshine” and muscadine wines. A new spin on some old favorites will be offered Saturday, Nov. 5 from 6 – 9 p.m. as the South Carolina State Museum explores the Palmetto State’s heritage of moonshining and homemade wine-making in an exciting new ticketed event for adults called “Moonshine and Muscadines.”

Visitors to the South Carolina State Museum are familiar with the replica of the Confederate submarine H. L Hunley that overlooks the galleries from the museum’s fourth floor. The Civil War and its profound effect on ordinary Americans have fascinated historians, journalists, writers, visual artists and musicians for the greater part of the 150 years since the war began in 1861. “Music and Conversation about the Civil War Experience,” a joint program by the Sandlapper Singers, the South Carolina State Museum and the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum, will examine the turbulent era through photographs, dialogue and song on Sunday, March 27. The program, beginning at 2:30 p.m., will take place in the South Carolina State Museum’s auditorium.
