South Carolina’s technological history is a broad one. So broad, in fact, that only a small portion of it can be exhibited at one time. The State Museum’s current exhibits include the histories of such diverse fields as transportation, communications, textiles, electricity, agriculture and forestry.

Many of our exhibits are full-size displays and include period surroundings that take the visitor back in time. Others, such as two HO-scale railroad dioramas, aid visitors in picturing the state’s past.
